Visit the Workplace!
One of the most useful ploys in getting a job is to make yourself known to the potential employer and interviewers before the interview.
How?
Ring the contact person and ask if you can visit the workplace to check out the working arrangement and environment.
When you get there - ask questions about the work, the company and show your interest. Obviously - be friendly, but don't overdo it!
The Benefits.
- You get to know the workplace and the people in it.
- They get to know you and can assess whether you will fit in with them. Is there a risk in this? Yes - they might not like you! But it's better to find out before the event rather than start a new job and find that the environment is unpleasant.
- Most likely the interview panel will consist of some of the people that you meet - they will be more comfortable with you in the interview if they already have met you.
- You will be less nervous and can break the tension by greeting the panel members as people that you have met.
