How to find a job? Where do I start? What do I do? What do I need?
Some of the answers are obvious - some not so obvious - The following ideas are designed to give you some starting points and tips on finding the right job.
So what does that mean? What is the right job for you?
So let's start with some ideas on how to evaluate your own real desires. Get a piece of paper and write down your ideas on these topics.
Make a list of your skills - not just those things that you do for work but include any other skills that you have which you believe could be valuable to an employer.
Make a list of the job types that appeal to you.
Write down your current salary or your last salary and put beside it a realistic range for the salary you are looking to receive..
Consider the geographic area that you could work in - be practical but don't discount a move if the job is right. Think about the blocks to moving and how to overcome them if offered a position outside your current comfort zone.
Consider the factors which would over-ride any reservations you might have about relocation (Great salary, promotional opportunity, prestigeous company, better climate, great lifestyle........)
Think about getting additional qualifications to give yourself leverage in gaining employment.
What about additional experience? - Volunteer work?
Sit down and look in the mirror! What do you see? How do others see you? How do you present? Think about things you might change to improve your personal presentation?
